The Lighting Applications Science team are proud members of the Illuminating Engineering Society. This prestigious society was founded in 1906 with the mission to improve the lighted environment. Illuminating Engineering Society members are manufacturers, consultants, electrical and building contractors, distributors, and lighting designers and architects, just like the LAS, LLC team. Thousands of these members serve on committees and help the Illuminating Engineering Society develop design guides, standards, lighting measurement, and lighting energy management materials.
Every year, the Illuminating Engineering Society holds an annual conference for their members. The 2015 conference theme “Share the Brilliance” featured a series of coordinated events including their Illumination Award presentations, two keynote features, sessions, special panel discussion, and informal networking. Many projects are recognized with Awards of Distinction, Excellence, and Special Citations. Additionally, council meetings are held to discuss industry information, standards, and other updates.
The LAS, LLC team attended the Illuminating Engineering Society conference this year. While we were at this conference, our own Mrs. Jennifer Jaques, had the pleasure of introducing one of the IES conference speakers, Ardra Zinkon, the lighting designer with Tek Studio for the 2015 conference. Additionally, Mrs. Jaques was invited to participate in the IES District Executive Council meetings for District 3 and District 4 as the South Regional Director. As a member of this Illuminating Engineering Society council, our LAS member was able to provide information, feedback, and engage in the discussion.
LAS, LLC is happy with our experience at the Illuminating Engineering Society 2015 conference. We are happy to be a part of a society with nearly 8,000 active members involved in all aspects of the lighting industry. While at the conference, we had the pleasure of making introductions, networking with other professionals, attending seminars to learn about and promote the most innovative lighting technology. We can’t wait to bring these skills to our newest projects and you!
